Whats That Smell In The Twin Cities Tuesday? - Woodbury, MN Patch

TWIN CITIES, MN — If you're in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area at all Tuesday, you may notice a strange odor pervading the air. Wind has carried the smell from the large fire at a metals plant in Becker, Minnesota into the area. Becker is located about an hour northwest of the metro.

On Feb. 18 just before 2:30 a.m., a passerby reported that a fire had broken out at the Northern Metals Recycling Plant in Becker.

The fire started in a pile of crushed vehicles on the Northern Metals facilities lot, according to a news release. Damage from the blaze is confined to an area for crushed cars, authorities said.

No one was injured and no buildings were involved in the blaze, according to police. Fire crews are still on the scene.
